I'm Cheap, And A Drunk

Check out my new website. I probably should have hired a "pro" for a few hundred bucks but I'm cheap and besides, that money is better spent on booze so I did it myself. My total cost was $5, the cost of five stock photos from Big Stock Photo, the cheapest royalty free stock photo site I could find. A few late nights putting it all together and voila - I can literally feel the money rolling in. At a minimum, if googled by some old high school rival, the ruse that I am a successful lawyer will be slightly more believeable. In the unlikely event anyone is interested in the fine details, I created the site using Dreamweaver, edited and/or created the photo and graphic assets with Photoshop, hosted the site through Yahoo Small Business, and ftp'd the files with FileZilla.

Looks good -- I like the colors -- modern but serious. I wish you could represent me re my property in SC :)

Thanks, Nittles. Sorry about SC. Hope that turns around soon.

Big D - where's the big smiley picture of you in front of a bookcase of law books? That is a staple of the solo practitioner website.

That is exactly why I omitted it, Kurtis. I know I'm not breaking any ground with my site but I feel I have a duty to avoid that cliche.

The law books would look outdated anyway --everyone uses online tools :)

Thanks for the comments guys. This was my first draft and while miles better than my old "site", I know there is room for improvement. I'm not thrilled with the stock photo on the first page of the glasses and contract. If I can find the right image I will change it. Just not sure what it would be.

I like the lay out. why don't you mention the big law firms you worked for?
perhaps you should put your picture in the bio section.

if responsiveness is your approach, then perhaps your pictures could deal with that i.e. a stock picture of a lawyer really close to the client (guidance), or a stock picture of a lawyer on a cell--close ups so that it looks intimate (i.e. phone near face)

i hope this helps. I will keep an eye out.

Thanks, Rob. I may add the firms. As for a photo. I might be guilty of random contrarianism but since every cheesy lawyer website I've seen has a photo I wanted to steer clear of that. My first version had a stock photo of a legal document and I changed it to the skyline. Perhaps no more creative or unique but somehow it felt better. On a different note, I've hired someone on craigslist to create a simple flash intro for me. I'm paying her $50 - we'll see if I've overpaid!

You have to put a picture up. Otherwise, it just looks small change. You've got big Willie skills and credentials. Flaunt that shit. Go to the Barney's sale - get all pimped out in the finest corp. lawyer gear and smile like a motherfucka.
