As long as Obama keeps opposing the war, he will get my vote. I use to support Hillary Clinton--her health care reform attempt would have saved so much money for our country. But health insurance saved their profits by misinforming the public and convincing them that Clinton's health care reform was just communism. but her support for the war in Iraq is unacceptable--until she changes, I cannot support someone who rolls with the chickenhawks and wages an unnecessary war.
I am disgusted by our politicians who have turned their backs on the american public. Americans did their part and voted in Nov. the message was clear--"We want to change the direction of the country." Congress should respect that wish and stop the president's escalation. but instead those chicken shit bastards are wasting time on non-biding resolutions that say shit and do nothing.
that's repulsive. we did our part, Congress do your fucking job and stop Bush's escalation!
It's not an escalation - it's an augmentation (Condi's words) or a surge (from the White House). Escalation is such an aggressive term - lol.
I like Obama as well. I just listened to a town hall meeting he did last year. He's a very bright guy and a savvy politician. Hillary is bright and savvy as well. Both would be huge improvements over Bush.
I think Hillary supported the war when it was politically expedient to do so. It's hard for her to back off of that now. Obama benefited from not being in the Senate at that time. Who knows which way he would have voted under that heavy pressure? Not too many Dems stuck to their principles in the immediate wake of 9/11.
Still I think both Hillary and Obama have the traditional obstacles of gender and race to get over. It still is a majority white country - though not majority male. Hillary also has the checkered past in her husband's administration (Vince Foster, the amazing return on investments, magically producing documents from her law firm that were reportedly lost, travelgate, etc.). The right is already trying to paint Obama as a Muslim and fundamentalist.
It should be interesting. Edwards may be the darkhorse who beats them both. Edwards reminds me a little too much of a televangelist. Everytime he smiles I see Jim Bakker. However, he's got the complexion to win the election. We'll see how far this country has come in terms of being willing to elect either a woman or a man of mixed race.
I think you are correct. this country is not ready for a black president, much less one whose name sounds like OBL, Sadam Hussein etc. I can't believe Fox news ran a false story about Obama's childhood education. appalling.
and Hillary can go suck on an egg, ms. johnny come lately...now that the war is extremelly unpopular she is jumping on the anti-war bandwagon. sorry but i expect more from our leaders.
