As part of their Cinco De Mayo celebration, the Texas Rangers wore jerseys with "Los Rangers" in place of "Rangers." The players signed the jerseys which are to be
auctioned off for charity. I noticed it while watching a replay of the Yankees/Rangers Friday night game. Ignoring the prudent business policy aspect of the decision, I applaud the Rangers organization, their owner, Tom Hicks, and the people of Texas (never thought I'd say that) for embracing the identity of their community and the history of their state. It shouldn't be so remarkable but given the current political climate, I'm impressed. Of course, our
favorite pretty-hot, easily-outraged lunatic is, well, outraged. She wants to know why it's ok to celebrate the heroism of another nation's armed forces but not of - are you sitting down - the confederate army. Because writing a word in Spanish is exactly like honoring a symbol of treason, oppression, and hatred. But you know, if it wasn't for people like Malkin inventing reasons to be outraged, where would I find material to mock? Back in the day I would have been irritated at the commodification of another culture for profit but in this case since it so irriates the right my own irritation has somehow faded. Go figure.

For those confused about the
threat of El Queda, Neil Cavuto at America's most trusted news source was on the case.

Yeah, I guess that was pretty cool of the Rangers but wasn't the uniform "translation" kind of a half-assed, like not having studied for a seventh grade Spanish test and merely adding "la" or "el" before and an "a" or "o" to the end of an English word?
Assuming that the Rangers team is named after those Chuck Norris playing Kung-Fu fighting guys with the horses and badges - who, ironically, helped settlers rebel against the Mexican government in 1836 over violations of their rights and the suspension of immigration from the U.S and Europe (!!) - shouldn't the uniform have read "Los Guardabosques" or "Policia Montado del Estato de Tejas"? Then again, the latter probably would have been a battle cry for Big D. and his Minutemen brethren, resulting in all-out assaults on Mexican communities from San Diego to Dallas.
"Wyatt! The Mexicans are advancing! They've taken over the Texas Rangers! Get the guns from the shed. Boy, I been waitin my whole life for this day."
Also, can the FCC relax on exposed nipples or dirty words and focus some of its attention on the blatant misuse of the English language? The definition of "terrorism" necessarily includes the threat of force or violence, neither of which were present at the recent immigration protests.
My guess, Tra, is that Los Rangers is what the team is called by local Spanish speaking fans. Rob, b/c of you I plan to google revenge porn, I'll let you know what I find.
whatever happened to "LOS LOBOS"? Pocho El Gordito was always my favorite. As for the Confederate flag.....well stop being so hateful of america. me and shelby steele run the "stars and bars" up the flagpole all the time....stop being so hurt....and "guilty"...you know you want to do it too..
by the way....has anybody thought about the fact that if the US had taken more mexican territory in 1868 including baja california and everything up to monterrey, then mexicans would be crossing over at those points....but they would still be in what is now mexico???
interesting immigration facts:
In FY2005, illegal immigrants used less than 1% of the entire $115 Billion Medicaid budget (Source: whitehouse.gov and newsobserver.com) One of the most comprehensive studies done, the Harvard study of 2005, concluded that immigrants are "not a drain" on the US healthcare system. The American Journal of Public Health found that immigrants use 8% of healthcare in this country. Undocumented immigrants make up about 1/3 of the total, which comes out to 3% spent on undocumented immigrants. A third of all immigrants used no healthcare at all in 2005 (Source: American Journal of Public Health) The cost of healthcare for immigrants (legal and otherwise) was less than half the cost of healthcare for US citizens. ($1,110 per year vs $2,500 per year) The biggest expense in the Medicaid budget is healthcare for pregnant women. (newsobserver.com) I'd like to know who here will argue against healthcare for pregnant women. After all, it is the most expensive part of the budget. As for Social Security: The majority, 75%, of illegal immigrants pay income tax, including social security. (Source: Stephen Gauss, Chief Actuary of Social Security) Illegal immigrants contribute $7 Billion (that's billion with a B) each year into the Social Security fund. This is money that they will never get back because it is contributed via fake SS numbers. (April 5 2005 NYT) Illegal immigrants have contributed over $200 Billion (with a B) into SS and will not receive any benefits from it. Many complain without reason about the incredibly high drain on society that illegal immigrants cause. They are not the source of skyrocketing healthcare costs or the instability in social security. It simply isn't true, no matter how much some of you like to tell yourself it is.

Pau - ROTFLMAO!
If the New York Knicks wanted to wear green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - would Michelle make a Confederate Day reference. Isn't that the same deal about celebrating a "foreign" culture?
I looked at the books she's previously written, amongst them was "In Defense of Internment." Now I don't know her ethnic background (she looks filipina), but something tells me that if she was living around the west coast during WWII, she might have been interned herself. What an Aunt Tommisina she is.
Yeah, she's cute - but as the jock Kurt Kelly said in Heathers when the blond Heather died from swallowing Drano - "What a waste of a good piece of snatch."
