Who Has Time To Cook?

From Overheard:
Girl #1: I am, like, so sick of eating matzah!
Girl #2: I'm not Jewish, but I like to eat it.
Girl #1: Do you know why the Jews eat matzah at passover?
Girl #2: I think it's, like, because the Jews were baking bread when the Nazis came and they didn't have time to wait for it to cook, right?

Not that I'm an expert on Jewish history but - the ditz is not that far off. From having dated a Jewish girl at Penn State, I recall that Matzah actually is eaten because when the Jewish slaves were escaping in Egypt they didn't have time to make bread and they brought the dough with them to the desert and made a hard cracker on the go called Matzah.

The bizzo on Overheard was only off by a few centuries.

Actually Kurtis, she's off by a few millenia. The Jews escaped Egypt around 1000 - 1500 BC. We're talking Charlton Heston and Yul Brenner here, aka Moses and Pharoh. But I'll give her partial credit for effort.
