Black America's Gravest Threat?

With Sharpe James bowing out of the Newark mayoral campaign, things are looking good for Ivy League educated, project dwelling, media darling Cory Booker. Some folks are not pleased and ascribe some serious bad intentions to the young Booker. Hmm, I don't know much about Jersey politics but on the surface, getting rid of the dictator James seemed like a good start. The Black Commentator feels otherwise:

"Cory Booker is back – like a recurring disease. The former one-term city councilman whose wholly unproductive career has been artificially sustained by Black America’s worst enemies has amassed bundles of rightwing cash for his second assault on Newark city hall. Booker’s stealth mission on behalf of the far-right Bradley and Walton Family (Wal-Mart) Foundations, under the tutelage of the hyper-racist Manhattan Institute, once again threatens to provide the Right with a long-coveted showcase for privatization and capitalism in-the-raw in urban America."

Read the rest here. The severity of this article is pretty astonishing. Even if Booker is as conservative as they suggest, a white man in black face as they state, a house nigga as they hope their readers will understand, what exactly is Booker a danger to? High crime rates and abysmal educational outcomes? A loss of graft and patronage access for the friends of Sharpe? Business as usual in Newark.

Considering the way the article was written, this peice could be written by a sharpe james flunkie...however.....it is abundantly clear that cory booker has accepted millions of dollars in contributions from the development "community". why? in part because they think he will win and be calling the shots soon, but also in part because sharpe james either soaks them for "community benefits" or shuts them out in favor of their competitors. that how the game works. james built up a machine, and rewarded his buddies and punished his enemies. ugly, but standard for machine politics. james and the blacks wrested control of newark from the italians in the mid 80's. they did not take the larger county however.....remember, newark is jersey's largest city, and is surrounded by some of the most expensive real estate in the northeast. new jersey in general is the most dense state in the US. newark sits like baltic street in the middle of park place and boardwalk.
james did not do enough to raise newark up, and the schools are a mess as is crime.....saying that booker will change all that rings a bit shaky.....he certainly has ambitions for other office....or why the speeches at the Manhattan Institute? are the prime voters of newark likley recipients of THAT PUBLICATION? if he certainly has ambition for other office..well then he's going to need MONEY.....like developer money....like gentrificating developer money...
newark is the only open space sitting in the greater new york area with such low prices for homes....just 30 minutes away from NYC on the PATH, with big city infrastructure, picturesque brownstones in need of TLC and renovation, an international airport, universities, a few thriving latino and brazilian/portuguese restaurant neighborhoods and a decent financial district doing wall streets back office work, this place could really take off if it only weren't for all those bl......
enter cory. it is very true that in beating a machine, you will accept help from anywhere.....everybody who is anybody on wall street has read the art of war...the enemy of your enemy is your friend.....the truth is, despite his high profile "living in the projects" schtick he has little record.....but we all have to start somewhere....we just dont know enough about where this whole booker thing is going to wind up....james was a machine pol, but it is undeniable that he created (interestingly like marrion barry of dc) a black middle class through public contracts and the civil service system. no 96% white fire fighting force or suburb filled police department there...lets also remember that New Jersey politics is probably the most corrupt in the country ....you can be damn sure sharpe james didnt create that shit....hold on to your seats folks...taking down the dictator james is a good start.....ass kissing and sucking up to the Manhattan Istitute in my estimation is not.....

it is interesting that donating 10K to cory booker is a donor from beverly hills, ca named ben affleck

I only have one point to disagree with you Shotblock...

New Jersey politics is probably the most corrupt in the country

I think Illinois is holding it down...one freaking corruption scandal after the other.
