Stolen WiFi Bloggin'

You can't keep an unemployed, condemned building escaping, new apartment having dude like me down - not as long as some fool next door leaves an unencrypted wifi signal floating in the air. What's up peeps? I'm in the new crib, boxes everywhere, but doing ok otherwise. The move was going fine until we got to the new place only to discover that my two most important pieces of furniture - couch and armoire - did not fit in the door. Fortunately, and I'm truly grateful for it, the owner of the house I'm living in works in construction and he promptly removed the door, the door frame, and the studs framing the door, creating enough room for all my stuff to squeeze through - seriously. He and his wife really went out of their way to make sure everything worked out for me. Much love to my Boricua peeps; a nice way for our relationship to start out - hopefully I'll be working before the next rent check is due so that this great new relationship doesn't take a turn for the ugly. Thanks to everyone who called to check up on me.

I'm glad to see it all worked out. Nothing like a nice family house to live in and accomodating landlords... you can get used to it... :) do you also get to tap into their cable? do they have a pool table in the basement with a wet bar? and don't forget your neigborhood amenities -- Sunset Park (the most beautiful sunsets this side of Harlem and a free public pool if you ever want to go for a dip with the locals (ah, how I remember those hot summer days in my youth playing such fun athletic games as dodgecaca and kick the bottleglass), authentic Mexican food (the best tamales this side of Harlem), and Greenwood Cemetery is just a nice stroll away (the original urban resting place in the U.S.; final home to such VIPs as Basquiat, Samuel Morse, Horace Greeley, Mae West, and Boss Tweed, and maybe even the Paulinos if there incessant marketing mailpieces convince my parents enough to spend their lifesavings on buying a plot rather than use it to enjoy a nice cruise in the Caribbean while they're still breathing, as I keep telling them to do).

when's the housewarming? a nice game of nine-ball?

No pool or wet bar that I've seen but I hear they enjoy a good summer BBQ in their backyward. I'm happy to have landed here, I could've done worse. The housewarming will be soon - once I get my gas turned on, cable, and phone, and clean up a bit. Watch out for the evite and my registry :-)
