Twenty years ago today the world's worst nuclear accident occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine. Though the official death toll lists only 56 casualties (including deaths from thyroid cancer), as this
photo essay shows, the impact on the neighboring communities has been devastating. Warning: Graphic photos.

Amazing photo's. Anyone interested in further info/photo's on Chernobyl should check this site (http://www.kiddofspeed.com/). Very interesting stuff.
These were extremely graphic and poignant, thanks for putting them up.
It is one long fucking tragedy. yeah the death toll is way higher than that. but the gov't does not want to admit the extent of this disaster.
That has got to be the scariest photo exhibit I've ever seen. I can imagine the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have had similar problems. People are still picking berries off of contaminated land. How long before we destroy each other and the planet?
I would be surprised if we survied another 200 years...
I'd be surprised too. No way will my retirement savings last that long.
